BIO:

Ciao! My name is Sena and I am a Licensed Marriage and family therapist practicing both virtually, as well as in person in our Walnut Creek location. Previous to my therapy life I worked with children, teens and young adults in school settings, recreation, and in home services for over 20 years where I developed an interest in supporting individuals around relationships, transitions, trauma and grief.

After experiencing my own major life transition, and with an increased sense of self-awareness, I went to pursue a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from JFK University. Upon completion of my master’s and in the last 6 years of my practice I have provided psychotherapy services to teens and adults in private practice, community-based mental health, and residential treatment.

I use an integrative approach that incorporates a variety of different modalities from evidence-based practices to attachment, psychodynamic, and narrative theories. With the use of these different modalities, we can fine-tune your therapeutic experience making sure we prioritize more immediate concerns while also building the framework to incorporate deeper work as we go. My goal as your therapist is to provide you with the opportunity to experience therapy in a way that feels meaningful and purposeful. While doing this, we will also be honoring that it takes courage to face the parts of ourselves, our life experiences, and the elements of the world around us that cause us pain and hold us back from finding peace, compassion, and love.

My therapeutic style is probably best described as collaborative, conversational, and hopeful. My approach weighs heavily on empathy, curiosity, reflection, and humor. As a proud part of the TheraTree team I want to welcome you and am glad you found us.
